Sony’s New Picture Frame Is A Beauty

Sony’s about to bring to the market a Digital Photo Frame in the next month or so, in time for the holiday season.  The 7” DPF-D72N/BQ Digital Picture Frame boasts a LCD WVGA video display, has a remote control, has clear and intense colors, has a 16:10 aspect ratio LCD, has several playback selections, and has a resolution of 800×480.  It will have 1GB of memory to store and display your photos.  Sony says that this digital picture frame can have 2 thousand pictures, which is a lot!  This Sony digital frame can show 2 image types: JPEG and RAW.  Since all digital cameras do support JPEG, then the Sony digital frame will certainly work with all digital cameras!

The Sony frame can get your pics from a diverse set of memory cards and also by connecting to your digital camera through a USB port.  Memory cards that the frame supports are Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Secure Digital (SD), Multi-Media Card (MMC), Compact Flash Card Type I and Type II, and xD-picture cards.

Features are Auto Rotation and Auto Resizing, which will make it effortless to show the photos in optimal resolution!  What Auto Resizing manages to do, is to automatically set the pictures for best fit without corrupting the photos.  Auto Orientation on the other hand, is capable to automatically choose if the photos must be in portrait or landscape format!  This allows you to put the digital picture frame vertically or horizontally, however, for best viewing, use landscape.

And other features are a clock, calendar, and various view modes!  The digital frame will be about 150 U.S. dollars when it comes to the marketplace.

However, there are a few features that are absent in this digital picture frame, namely audio, video, and wireless.  While in today’s market wireless is the norm, it is very interesting that Sony would release this digital picture frame that lacks wireless support.
