Things you can check to be sure there aren’t any leaks in your roof
As the rain and the snow of winter season comes closer most people have to seriously start thinking about their roof. The roof is really an essential part of your home that everybody can’t live without. But it is the part of the home most people overlook. The time reallly when people finally realize it is when there is a repair that needs to be fixed or it needs to be replaced. But with winter approaching most people just won’t be able to wait for that.So here are a couple of ways you can use to check to find out if yuo have a leak in your roof.
First thing you want to do is make sure you know the difference between a leak and a condenstion spot. We get calls all the time for my San Diego roofing company for people who think they have a leak. But when we get to the house we find out it isn’t a leak but a condensation stain. The quick way to see if it is condensation is you will see it doesn’t have a design. Now when it really is a leak it will create a circular shape. So if the spot you see has a circular shape you know you have a leak.
The thing you want to check next are weak areas of your roof.Places that are known weak spots are areas like the chimney where it leaks a lot there. In our roofing Oceanside service we always check those areas because it is so common that it leaks there. It is a quick fix by sealing that area and making sure there arent’ any openings.
Finally you want to check for points on the roof where a nail has penetrated.Quite often when the nailing of the roof is done there will be spots that aren’t sealed well. This is the cause of leaks that we find in my Rancho Bernardo roofing service. This is another simple fix you can do by finding it then sealing it.
So those are some of the methods you can use to be sure you don’t have any roof leaks this coming winter.
